19'th MISS CARIBBEAN & COMMONWEALTH

Jacqueline Baker, the current Deputy Miss Trinidad & Tobago UK, and Michelle Supersad, who will be travelling from the twin-island state for the occasion, are seeking to claim back the Miss Caribbean & Commonwealth crown after African entrants made a clear sweep of the top three places last year.

They are among beauties from at least fourteen national communities will contest the 19th Miss Caribbean & Commonwealth title in the Theatre of the Polish Centre, King Street, Hammersmith, London W6 on Friday evening 18th April 2008. All entrants are recommended by established Caribbean and Commonwealth promoters in the United Kingdom, and some are coming from as far afield as Sweden and even Trinidad just for the occasion.

“Every contestant is a potential winner – and a very good winner” claimed promoter Clayton Goodwin. “And when the current guest beauty queens and the former beauty queens and models are added, we have an exceptionally outstanding assembly of beauty. It is a tribute to the example of present title-holder Uchenna Obika, her runners-up Hilda Agmebemiese and Patricia Reynolds, and to the support of the promoters of national and regional pageants.”

There are 19 scheduled candidates to mark the 19th Miss Caribbean & Commonwealth contest. With two places to be filled by the top contestants in the forthcoming Miss ACS contest there are entrants from the communities of Cameroon, Congo DR, Eritrea, Ghana, Grenada, Guyana, Kenya, Morocco, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Trinidad & Tobago, Zambia, Zimbabwe.
